Lightbulb Possible Group Buy: Dicon 1280EI and/or Linfinity 4 bulb invertor

I've gone through hell trying to find a Dicon 1280EI for my Allbrite, many companies practically hung up on me the second they found out I don't want to buy thousands of controllers from them.

Regardless I found a distributor who has been more than helpful with my quest and is currently seeing what she can do.

Knowing how difficult it can be to get ahold of these things I figured i'd try and see who else might be interested in the product, and hopefully get a small discount for all of us.

I beleive this kit comes with a 2 bulb inverter, but I will check on that and get back to you. Also, I am specifically trying to get the Dicon kit that has the nessesary cables for use with a 41 pin Hirose Allbrite (NEC) setup. This kit is also compatible with the LB121S1. While this controller will work with other supported LCDs you may need to obtain a different cable for use with your screen. If you are interested in a dicon 1280ei for a different screen let me know and I'll see what I find out.

    Here is the manufactuers description:

    and a spec sheet:

I am also looking at getting the Microsemi/Linfinity LXM1643-12-62 This is a 4 bulb inverter that suppors PWM dimming, so you don't have to rig a dimming circuit for it as you did with the inverter that came with many Allbrites. This inverter supports dimming from 2% to 100% load, which is essential for a display as bright as the allbrite.

    Here is a spec sheet:

Right now I am just seeing who may be interested in a group buy. I'm trying to get more information on the equipment, price, etc.. If enough people are interested I will setup a group buy.

I'd also like to thank everyone who has helped me out with this quest.

    -Nick

I was looking at the inverters monthes ago. Microsemi set me up with a few of their distributos. I found one that sold them for ~$55.00. Unfortunately I've since lost the info. If I remember correctly, they were based in Florida, but take that info with a grain of salt. If you find them, I'll take one.

I'll make some phone calls tomorrow and use that price you gave me as a reference point.
I'm gonna be on the road all day tomorrow so I prolly won't be able to report back until sometime wednesday. Hopefully by then i'll also have heard back from the distributor and find out what kind of group buy options i can provide for the dicon.

Allright, well of the distributors I"ve gotten a hold of, it looks like the Inverters will be $60 plus shipping. I'll keep trying, but almost all of the ones I've called either don't want to deal with small orders, or have a 12-14 week wait

And the DIcon LCD 1280EI looks like it will be $165 plus shipping. This includes Cables and a 2 bulb invertor..

These are the best prices i have been able to find of places that have the items in stock, but if anyone else can do better, lol feel free to chime in.

I'm talking to another distributor, who thinks he may be able to do a bit better on the price for the Dicon, hoepfully he'll get back to me tomorrow.

Again if anyone is interested in Either of these please let me know. An order of 15 for the Dicon is the goal with the initial distributor.
