That may be hard to fine, considering the power from a USB is small (+5V, correct me if i'm wrong). Look around on TigerDirect.com or other large computer stores.

Rebate expires the 31st so I still have time to find one cheaper. Anyone????

Little too high $$$-wise. Trying to stay in the $40-$80 range. Thanks though.

As far as I know and as far as I have seen, the Storix DVD/CD-RW is the only drive that is powered off USB. It's a Slim DVD/CD-RW drive and it's a little pricey but, probably the most ideal solution in a car setup. I don't think they are made anymore and you will have to go to eBay looking for them.

Here is a link to an auction for one of these drives.

    Enjoy!

Thanks HD534321. So the link that's in the 3rd post to the item I looked at on tigerdirect.com isn't powered off the usb. My main thing is to have at least a cd rom, I don't have to have dvd capability and I don't have to have rewriteable capability. As long as I can load software that's all I really need. I need this thing to go in my glove box that's the reason I want it to be powered off usb.

That link in the 4th post is to a drive that gets it's power from the computer's PS/2 port. I really don't think your going to find a drive that's powered from the USB port.

So you might want to focus on finding a drive that's powered from the PS/2 port.
