Was your LCD or drive "molded" into the dash? I have a '02 jetta and if you have a custom fab dash this would save me a bunch of work! Do you have pics?
Well, it was fun while it lasted.
I had a 7" Lilliput installed in my VW Jetta for all of two weeks when I got in an accident. It was a little more than a fender-bender, but the way I got hit was enough to rip a motor mount-- so my car was considered a total loss.
I've sinced moved on to another car, and am looking to buy a house... so now I have the following for sale:
** A 7" Lilliput XGA LCD with touchscreen. The LCD is in mint condition. I hacked the the bottom button area of the front plastic frame and melded it with a face plate from a VW Jetta CD player (as a cover for the DVD slot drive I'm selling below). However, I can free the hacked frame if you need it to fit a standard double-din slot. I'm asking for $200 shipped or best offer.
** SOLDAn iMac slim slot-load DVD-ROM drive, which has been hacked with an IDE interface. You can hook this up to your IDE chain, or use a USB-IDE adapter. I will also include the black plastic bezel cover (which covers the DVD drive perfectly and comes complete with a felt liner) so that you can easily integrate this into your exising setup-- assuming the buyer of the LCD doesn't want or need it. ** SOLD **
** A Dell Inspiron 1150 Laptop with 2.4Ghz processor, 512MB of RAM, and a 20GB hardrive. Also comes with a built-in 802.11g wireless adapter, a Cardbus 3-port firewire card, and integrated DVD/CD-ROM drive. I was using this as the brains of my carputer. The unit is about two months old (still 9 months left on factory warranty) and is still in great shape. SOLD
It's been a few months since I've priced these things, so let me know (via PM) if my asking prices are out of line. Thanks!

Keep in mind that in order to fit the LCD and and the slim DVD-rom drive, you will have to cut the cup-holder support area. You can fit just the LCD if you use just the double-din space below the cupholder.
I took a few pictures in the initial stage when I was molding the stuff together... you can find that thread here:
best plastic adhesive/filler?
As you can see, there's an area for the LCD and touchscreen, and just below is the DVD slot area. It also has the original buttons from the CD player put in, which you can wire and use for eject or power buttons. Also note the rectangular hole between the LCD area and the DVD-slot. This hole is now covered with thin plexiglass, and is where I put the IR sensor (all the buttons on the IR board glow blue, so the whole rectangle glows blue as well-- which gives a nice coordinated look with the Jetta). The whole frame is painted with SEM black interior paint, but you can of course paint it whatever color you want.
I obviously don't have my Jetta anymore, but if you want I can take some pictures of the finished, but no longer installed, unit. Let me know if any of that helps.
If you end up selling your custom molding and ppgt94 doesn’t need the black face plate for your dvd drive I would like to buy just the face plate for the drive maybe you could give him off some and I could pay whatever less u sell it for. PM me if something like this comes up thanks or could work out
i will take dvd rom whole thing... if still available...
Ok, I have a couple of offers for the DVD-ROM drive with the faceplate...
Anyone need a 7" Lilliput with touchscreen?
hmmm...could you post pics of the lilliput screen as you would sell it now?
Hey sohr,
I thought I would make a public post declairing that I already have a dvd drive on order. I am no longer interested in the dvd drive (incase you were holding it).
I want to thank you for taking the time to answer all my questions. Good luck with the saling and I hope everything works out with your new project
Thanks ppgt94...Originally Posted by ppgt94
Yes, I was holding it for you (was waiting to see if anyone needed the Lilliput frame first, though). However, now I get to make someone else happy![]()
Also, for those still interested in the LCD, I'll post some pictures tonight.
Any picture of the screen yet bro?![]()
