WTB services: fiberglass/mod help

This has absolutely nothing to do with the computer aspect for the navi screen... but I have seen some good projects done here to make the work look factory, and I am hoping somebody can help me.

I have a 2004 Infiniti FX35, and I put a bluetooth car kit in the car, I want the display to be mounted in the ashtray area, and I want it to be sturdy and for it to look factory.

I also want the unit to still close once the display is mounted in there.

The only catch is, I will obviously pay you via paypal, but I will ship you the item via overnight delivery, I will have it to you say on a monday, but it must be done and ready to ship tuesday so I can have it back on wednesday.

I would like to be able to keep the cigarette lighter so I can still charge my cell phone and what not, but if it MUST go then ok, i will live with that gone.

How much would I be looking at? (Of course I willg ive you a prepaid shipping label to have it sent back to me)

If you're looking to get a super fast delivery time, I would say go to a local stereo shop and have them do it. That way you save on shipping and the piece would never have to leave the car. It would also be a much higher level of confidence that the piece will fit right and look right as you would be able to okay it before you get it back from the shop. If you're set on sending it out, shoot me an email and we'll talk.

I honestly don't trust any of the local stereo shops, I have dealt with a couple and they are not that good at what they do. The only shop with a good reputation around here said they wont do fiberglass. :-\

The people who have done good jobs on making their system stock will not have done it in one day. Realistically, you are looking at probably a week of work to get a good finish. Especially considering drying times of each layer of filler/fibreglass/primer/paint that would need to be done to make it look good.

Your expectations, in my opinion, are too high to get a good job done.

However, good luck in finding someone who feels that they can do it.

hmm a whole week? I didn't realize that it was such a long process. I appreciate you telling me that, and I will see if I can pull just the ashtray part off the rest of the center console.

If you want it done right (which I presume you are), then yes, it will take more than one day. A week is a rough guestimate based on what I've seen other people do, and on how many things you are waiting on to dry!

As i said, good luck with the project, and I'm sure you'll be happy with the outcome.

Ok. Thanks. Well the ashtray unit comes out easily, so if it is delivered to whoever wants to do this on a monday...and then get it back on friday/saturday is that reasonable to anybody? If you need more time PM me and let me know how much time you need and what your offer is.
