FS: Apex AD-600 DVD player (the infamous DVD player!)

Selling a gently used Apex DVD player model AD-600. $ 60 shipped anywhere in the continental US. Canada negotiable.

This is the one with macrovision defeat, and the 'secret menu'. OK, enough descriptions... this is the famous DVD player that started it all, and if you want it, you KNOW why you want it.

It is in perfect condition, gently used, and fully working remote control, manuals, and I even have the box!

Heh, I still have one of these sitting in it's original box down in the basement. I still remember reading about it on slashdot, and getting in the car 15 minutes later, even though I already owned a DVD player.

I never made too much use of mine either. Video quality was rather poor, it crashed a lot, and it didn't like a lot of the MP3 CDs i fed it. I thought there were a lot of newer players that did all the stuff the old AD600 did, plus a whole lot more (like play DivX files burned to DVD) for not much more than $100. (I haven't really bothered to keep up, I just use my laptop these days...)

Well to be completely honest, I have had no issues with mine, it plays everything I have thrown at it, and I watch a TON of movies. I got a newer SONY dvd player which I really like (nicer remote), so I don't see a reason to keep two players.

I never had any trouble with mine either. It was completely dependent upon the firmware that was on the player. There was only one or two runs from a certain mfg plant that were screwy. Mine was great and tolerated any damned disk I threw at it. Region free was the reason I originally went after it.
