All,
Just want to say thanks to all of you for your appreciation and words of encouragement. It's my pleasure to help out but this has been incredibly time consuming to me. Much more than I had ever planned.
A couple of points as an FYI:
1) No extra cables were ordered. The only way there will be an extra cable is if someone doesn't want theirs. But if you ordered one, I expect you to buy it. Don't weasel out on my now!
2) If you do not contact me with your real name and address by 3/20, I may choose to sell your cable to someone else. My option. So if you haven't contacted me do it quickly.
3) Finally, if there are extra cables, people on the original order list will get priority. People who have not placed an order will be next. I will go by time and date of request for extra cables to prioritize the original order list folks.
Yes, I know that doesn't seem fair, people who already have a cable can get another before someone who has no cable. But to me it is the most fairway to deal with "extras." I want to deal with the people who have contacted me during this long ordering process and had the foresight and intention before late comers. My apologies to those who missed out.

I'll try to get a picture of my prototype cable loaded tonight.
It uses individual wires for each connection and that's how these cables will be built.
THe supplier also said she can provide shielding on the cable too. I'm still working on if that's an extra cost or not.

Will this hirose cable work for the Sharp LQ94D041 tft? It has a 31 pin connector, identical to the one on the controller. I think the controller is an Allens controller that you guys talk about (M1023 rev:F from datalux?)

what sort of lead time area we looking at for this cable. i ask, because i might be getting one from mastero for a couple bucks more than the prices you quoted, but it will take a shile to get here. if i can get one sooner than the one he can sell me i would be interested. i would need a 1-1 which i can cut and rewire mid-cable. let me know about the lead time though.

Unfortunately like I said in the update above, I'm not sure what the lead time will be. With my contact person helping her daughter through surgery and chemo who knows when she'll be back. She's also going to be helping watch her granddaughter so I just don't know. Could be 2 to 3 weeks at least.
You may be best off going through Mastero for now.
Sorry about the delay and I wish I could give you more solid dates.

Finally, if I ship you this cable, you have to promise to take me to a local bar so I can buy you some beers the next time I'm in AUS. I really want to visit your country someday! Maybe when my kids are in college 17 years from now!

The LQ9D166 has the same pinout as the LQ9D161. Which means you can purchase the same one I'm using which is already wired for that LCD. If you buy a straight through, you'll have to cut it in half and rewire. Which is OK with me if you want to do that. Just let me know.

I don't know if it will work with the Sharp LQ94D041 tft. If I were you I would order a straight through and then re wire if necessary. Try to find a pinout first though. Don't invest in a cable without knowing the pinout.

Here's what I've been told but I cannot guarantee it's true:

Now I've tried a straight through with my LQ10D367 and it works but I'm getting funny red pixels. Everything else looks really good included DVD but those damn red pixels are way to bright. I don't know if that's a controller problem or what but you should know that its not working perfect for me.
The straight through cable (1 to 1) is supposed to also work with the following Sharp LCDs but I don't know what the vcc requirements are. I heard that Allen's controller puts out 5V and some LCDs need 3V. Are these LCDs 3V??? I dont know.

If you have any doubts on whether these cables will work for you don't order one! If you think you can figure out the pinout yourself on an LCD that's not listed, order the 1 to 1 and rewire it, but please realize you're taking a chance. I will not refund money, especially after you cut a cable in half.
Finally, if you don't tell me the length you will get a 12" cable.

i will take a 1-1 cable, 18" in exchange for the serial-touch cable. if you change your mind and want the diference, i can send $$ to cover it. it wont hurt my feelings if you change your mind...
