I am new to this carputer stuff, so this is what some recommended for me. I am looking for the following items, or better.

VIA EPIA M10000 Mini-ITX Mainboard
512 MB DDR266 (1 DIM) RAM or 1GB
60, 80 100 GB 2.5" IDE Laptop Hard drive
IDE to Mini IDE (2.5" hard drive) cable
Some type of case
USB powered slim DVD drive
Snap-On Miniature 12v DC Power Supply - 200w
ATI Wonder RF Remote & receiver

That power supply needs a regulated 12v or it will not work

Thanks for the responses, the memory looks good, but I can get it brand new from monarch for $62.00, and the case is nice, but I would like something that looks good for show. And what inverter would you recommend.
