can we have pics of the lcd?
The LCD is a 4x40 EL backlit HD44780. Works great. I tested it.
It comes prewired with generous cabling, Backlight inverter, all circuits required to convert voltages from standard PSU voltages, pot and all the documentation/schematics on everything including the LCD and inverter.
The LCD was actually wired up by Arby (thanx, but I sold my car), so it's all top standard work that you'd expect from him
I'm asking for $150 Australian (~$75 US).

I havent got any pics of it in the dark, but I can asure you (as can arby) that is is quite readable in the dark.
I'm not sure if it can be inversed, better leave that one for Arby, but I think I recall him mentioning something like it could be inversed, but it's probably not bright enough to keep the small characters crisp.
To make it brighter a higher voltage inverter would be necessary, which are pretty easy to come across, try http://ergpower.com/elinverters.htm for example, they may even send out samples. Replacing the inverter would be as simple as unsoldering the old one and replacing it with the new one, as long as the new inverter runs on the same voltages (12VDC I believe).

Yeah.
The backlight ins't as bright as an led one, but it's readable. If you want to inverse it you'd need a higher voltage inverter to make it readable.
