FS: (Incomplete) HP Pavilion N3410 NoteBook, 550MHz AMD K6-III

Too good to scrap for parts, but too incomplete to use as-is...

    The good...
    - Decent little computer (This is the third of three I've owned in this series)
    - Few signs of abuse, acceptable overall condition
    - Runs Windows XP Pro with little difficulty
    - I have been using this computer a fair amount over the past few months. I have found it to work just fine and it has no obvious malfunctions with anything.

    The BAD...
    - No Hard Drive!
    - No Operating System!
    - Hard drive carrier is present but it's missing screws and the drive plug adapter. I've seen some inexpensive parts on eBay that might make it work, but it might need some modifications to use them.
    - Battery is completely useless -- it needs to be replaced
    - No external power supply!
    - Keyboard shows a little signs of wear but is still very usable

    The Ugly...
    - Good old-fashioned PASSIVE MATRIX LCD is substandard compared to anything modern. (Must enable Acid Mouse mode to keep mouse visible when moving quickly.) It has crappy contrast, is dim, and it responds slowly. It works just like new!

Back when I DID have a 20MB hard drive, I couldn't even FATHOM a processor running 50 or 100 times faster! Not to mention fitting it in a laptop computer worth $75 because "new" ones are 4 times that that.

Now my desktop computer has a front side bus fast enough to keep up with THIS processor at full internal speed withotu needing any sort of cache memory. And the hard drive in my desktop has a high enough transfer rate to keep up with the memory speed of the laptop without needing RAM at all. Amazing...
