Thread: WTB: XM Direct Custom made cable

I would like one of these as well. I have seen other posts on here looking, too. Whoever can make these cables has the opportunity to make a few bucks here. Hopefully someone will!!!

No promises yet... but I will be making some sometime in the near future.

I posted looking to buy some, and got nowhere. So, I decided to buy the pieces to make my own, and bought enough to make 10 cables due to price breaks I got on some pieces. Just waiting for my 8-pin mini-DIN cables to arrive before I get started.

These will have about a 7 foot lead between the mini-DIN connector and the serial adaptor, and about a 1 foot lead between the 12V power and the serial adaptor. Power end will feature a 4-pin Molex drive connector with pass through (so you don't lose connections inside the host PC).

I'll post when I am rolling on these...

You'd be best off getting the stuff directly... radioshack.com and svc.com were all I needed. The single most expensive item was a wire cutter/crimper/stripper I bought to make it easier...

Here is the prototype (although the rest should be the same).



Only tested that there is electrical continuity so far, and that is good. Will test with a XM Direct and Road Runner later (or this weekend).
