My first carputer build. I made a case out of plexiglass. This was my first attempt at this about 5 years ago so things are NOT perfect, however this would be great for someone that didn't want to spend alot and have something functional for tunes.

This includes:
Home Made Plexiglass Case
Motherboard
AMD 500 MHZ
128 PC100
Sound Card
Video Card
8 gig hard drive
400 watt vector inverter
DVD ROM
Power Supply

This has a power button on the side of the case as well as some wires coming out the side that could be run up to the front of the car to turn on and off.
This also has a ground wire running from the motherboard which would need to be hooked to the chasis of the vehicle (or you get a nice buzzing sound, unless you are using a DC-DC power supply such as a Opus)

I wrapped half of the hard drive in electrical tape so I could avoid grounding it against some metal inside the case.

This is NOT just a plug and play item, but it's closer than starting from scratch. You will have to do some work, maybe reformat to your favorite OS, some wiring, taping...but I just plugged it in and it works fine...So pretty much just wiring in your car...
