what about adding the extrenal DVD, GPS, and USB ports to this? How difficult would all of that be?
All the tablet PC's can turn the screen from portrait mod to widescreen. No problem at all.
As far as taking it apart, I have no idea. laptops in general are kind of tricky to take apart, but it can be done. Extending the wires for the LCD screen my be the hardest part. Even so, it shouldn't be that hard.
I'm not familiar with this model at all. I just learned about it today. That screen looks awesome, though. Looks like it would sell for $800 by itself. Good screens are important. The cheaper ones ($300-$500) can reflect light badly and make it hard to see during the day.
All those are done through the USB ports. Same as using a laptop.
Don't confuse me with any tablet wiz, I've never messed with them. You might search for "tablet" in this MP3car forum to learn more. I know Turbocad6 is running 2 laptop mobo's in his van, plus has a 3rd mobo at home. Since all the mobo's are the same he can pop out the HDD and pop it in the mobo in the house to load the software, make tweaks and such and then pop it back into the car. He's into high end screens and tablets as well. Check some of his threads.
those have never sold for $510 though, that's just what the bid was up to when you looked at it... they all go for over $800, but are still an awsome deal at that... there are a lot of them coming up on ebay... if this gets oversaturated the prices may go even lower.....
the cheapest I have ever seen one from a private seller was $760... mine arives today
yeah, I'll definatley be taking it apart... more info & pictures in my install thread here if you want to follow the work I do with this tablet follow it there
& jason, it's page 1 for me, it depends how many posts per page you allow to show in your user control panel here I used to do 100, but my cell phone browsing slowed to a crash so I dropped it to 50 you must still be at 20 posts per page???
What do you guys think about Pete using a laptop mobo? Maybe soething like Turbo has in his van? They are small and can fit in the dash. Pretty much complete as well, not to mention cheap.
I can't find it. What model board is it?
