    FS: GPS Modules Sale

    Two Types of GPS Modules
    Top One: $ 30.00/each I have 5
The Lassen iQ is the latest GPS receiver from the world renowned Trimble. This is one of the smallest, easiest to use, and lowest power receivers we've ever seen!

    12-Channel Receiver
    DGPS Ready
    Hot Start : 10s
    Warm Start : 38s
    Cold Start : 50s
    New Enhanced sensitivity mode
    26mA at 3.3V
    Antenna detection
Serial output stream - configurable to NMEA Standard at 2400bps to 19200bps
    Small. Really small.

This module is built for connection to a COM port as well I have schematic of the PWB so you can interface how ever you like. It includes breakout of both ports one 4 pin molex(installed and one DB9 right angle connector (not installed) This unit can be used with a coin battery to make power up quick.

    Bottom one: $32/ each I have 3.
The EM-408 GPS module from USGlobalSat based on the spectacular SiRF StarIII chipset. This complete module is built upon the same technology as the ET-301, but includes a built-in patch antenna and an MMCX connector for an optional external antenna.

    Features:
    20-Channel Receiver
    Extremely high sensitivity : -159dBm
    10m Positional Accuracy / 5m with WAAS
    Hot Start : 8s
    Warm Start : 38s
    Cold Start : 42s
    75mA at 3.3V
    20gram weight
Outputs NMEA 0183 and SiRF binary protocol

The Module is attached to Perf board for Mounting. Also It is wired for connection to Serial COM port with TX, RX, PWR (3V to 5V), and GND. The module once properly powered will spit out data on in NMEA format on the COM port.

Visit Sparfun.com for ideas and other modules that can be combined with the GPS modules.

I do not have any but www.sparkfun.com or also http://www.ftdichip.com/FTProducts.htm which they sell most of their modules on digikey.com website.

Serial is better interface than usb because with a usb adapter all its doing is creating a USB interface converting the SERIAL data back to SERIAL data on a virtual COM port.

    Thumbs up

Great seller! I got my item in today. Happy that its got the "MMCX to SMA" cable. However, I'm a bit confused, can I just plug this straight into my motherboard's COM port header? The motherboard has a 2 row header. Or is there a nice adapter I could just buy?

    Com Port Cable

Best option is to splice the mate to your MB COM port connector into the cable provided. should be GND, TX, RX, and VCC ((3.3 or 5V) two wires i believe one is enable other is PWR). Compare pinout against the Data sheet of the EM408 GPS on last page pay attention to the view of the connector and the wires in each socket.
