I have actually been in Innovatek's factory in China where this unit is produced. It is actually a very nice unit. Some of the stuff coming out of China... well we all know ....... But the quality control, and the modern factory where this is manufactured are some of the best they have to offer.

Here is a video of an install I did for a guy in Ft. Lauderdale in January. He took it at night, so not the greatest test for daytime readability

    Just get VW Julie.

Pretty cool, but I rather not have that Bluetooth earpiece in all the time just to use my voice commands with RRVoice.

I prefer the press button method to mute/listen.

Hmmmm, something like this is really tempting, but it seems not too many people are keen on the Innovatek stuff. Still tempting...

    Just got one...

Loved the setup, and got one even before seeing the video.

So, JohnWPB, two questions for you:

1> Where can I get "Amanda"? Is it a purchased app, or open? I'm very interested in voice control for the unit, since it would make hands-free driving much nicer.

2> There are two wires on mine, labeled "Steering 1/2" (or "Wheel 1/2" in the manual). I assume these go to a steering wheel controller of some type. Did you hook these up at all? Do you know if they expect a ground pull-down, a varied voltage, a pulse, or? The documentation mentions every wire and pin-out on it except those two wires.

So far, this looks like a real win.

There is more information on that in stall in THIS POST.

We did not use the wires you mentioned, as he wanted to access it remotely with his microphone for car shows and such. I am not sure honestly how those 2 wires are set up to work.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to figure out how to install it once I'm back from my trip. Looks like a nice system though, so I'll probably be going for it.

As for the wheel setup, it has a setup icon for how it works in the main menu. It lists several car models, so I'm sure if I look around a bit I can find out which type of systems they use and derive what it's looking for from that. Guess that will be a slightly longer-term project than I expected.

    Thanks again!
