    Sony RM-X6 HiIR Remote With Custom USB Interface

    While back i was working on a Gadget, to interface the sony HiIR (455khz) Remotes to the pc
    i did produce a few, but due to the discontinuance of the TSOP7000 IR Receiver by VISHAY
    i dropped the product...

    i have 1 built, and 1 more i can build...

    but for the 1 built, someone can enjoy...
    the USB interface is a FTDI comport, and the commands that come in are simple ascii
    and you can use EVENTGHOST or (ugh, GIRDER) to have them work the PC
    so easy to do

    strings are like, MUTE (ending with crlf)

    it took me 5mins to code a Eventghost script to send commands right to RideRunner

    got one more... brand new rmx-6s(snagged it from amazon for $12)

    OK Mitch, got the remote hooked up, but I'm gonna need a a little spoon-feeding on EventGhost and RR commands. I am currently trying to set up EventGhost and I've got the remote hooked up and I am seeing all the commands coming from the remote.

    I see 14 commands.
    MUTE = Push ATT Button
    MUTE! = Release ATT Button
    OFF = Push OFF Button
    OFF! = Release OFF Button
    BN2 = Push MODE Button
    BN2! = Release of MODE Button
    DSK- = DISC+ Rocker
    DSK+ = DISC - Rocker
    SEK+ = |<< Rocker
    SEK- = >>| Rocker
    VOL- = CCW Twist
    VOL+ = CW Twist
    SRC = Push Top Hat Down
    SRC! = When Top Hat Returns to Normal Position

    I am trying to make my EventGhost look like the screenshot you have shown here, but I know there are properties behind each of those items. Also in my log, the RMX5S. and the MUTE are showing up on seperate lines of the log. If I open SkinTool and hit some commands, nothing shows up in the skintool.

    I was working with it last night, I got mute working, but not through RR.

    Is there a list of RR commands anywhere? I was looking through the documentation, but probably not the right places. Not that I have anything too involved in mind for this remote, Probably Pause, next track, previous track, volume.

    Would it be possible to use the MODE button to toggle between Music and Radio?

    If I was in the Radio Skin, would it be possible for the same command from the remote that goes previous track, next track to do previous radio preset, next radio preset?

    This thing is really nice. The range appears very good. I can even operate it with the remote under the desk and the sensor sitting on the desk. The signal is probably bouncing off my shirt. From a straight shot it worked from about 6-8 feet.

    With a little help from Mitch I was easily able to set it up to change volume, pause, prev/next track, return to main menu, go to the currently active source's screen from the main screen, then toggle between HD radio and mp3's, go to load playlist screen, select playlist, including a page down feature, load selected playlist.

    Using Eventghost as Mitch suggests is pretty easy. Setting up what you want it to do with the execTbl.ini is pretty easy too.

    I have had a couple times where Eventghost did not understand the Python Script that Mitch sent me, and threw an error, but if I uninstall Eventghost, and then re-install it works.

    Mitch didn't throw in the micro USB cable, but I had a few lying around.

    All in all, it's very nice.

    Thank you Mitch!
