P2140 - Drawing to much power in Standby

    Hey All,

Well I have had my CarPC complete for a few weeks now and I have finally found some time to figure out why it won't go into Standby properly. I hooked my laptop up to the P2140 and turn off the car. The computer goes into Standby and then a few seconds later I get the "Pri Current" message from PSUMon.

I have disconnected all the USB devices but I am still drawing 0.8 amps (9 Watts) when in Standby.

    Have a couple questions...
First off, does anyone have any suggestions on what I might decrease the amp the computer is pulling in Standby.
Second, is it possible to raise the max amps that the P2140 will allow in Standby?

I'm running the Fanless Micro Intel computer sold here on MP3Car.

If you have all USB devices, then you've done about all you can do to reduce the power draw in standby mode. <1A is pretty good for standby, but hibernate will draw 0A.

Yeah, thats what I figured. There anyway to increase the current threshhold for shutdown on the P2140?

Never used one, so I don't know. If it can be changed, you'll probably need the PSUMon software to do so.
You might consider reading the manual.

Well I searched for the firmware update that increases the standby current draw threshold of the P2140 from its stock 0.5 amps but did not have any success.

Fortunately I went back and took another look at the bios for my computer and found the ACPI setting that I had previously missed. I changed the setting from S1 mode to S3 so that my computer now goes into a deeper sleep. Now when I turn the car off it goes into standyby and will stay that way indeffinitely and then wake up with no problems when the ignition is on.
