Unhappy p2140 not turning on Amp, power draw when off

    Hi guys,

I've had my 2140 up and operational for over 2 years when all of a sudden I started to get dead car battery, and the AMP (old MTX 1004 thunder) will NOT turn on after the car is started. It seems to have a mind of its own. I've noticed the AMP light on when the car is off and supposedly the p2140 had already shut down everything.

(maybe I dont understand enough about how the remote DYLON wire works turning on the AMP, but I guess that it should NOT draw power after car is off for sure!)

I busted out the multimeter to inspect the power draw. It appears that through the Blue Remote (DYLON) wire, it sometimes pulls 12V when the car is OFF and the 2140 had shut down

I couldnt figure it out so I relfashed the 2140, same results. I even went as far as to purchase a brand new 2140 and the same thing is happening. Nothing changed with physical wiring so I still think it cant be wiring.

I'm out of ideas and not sure if its the 2140 or the AMP going bad or something. Any ideas?

That's pretty much how my 2140 is operating now, I put the amp remote lead on the secondary output. I've read before that some people use a small relay off the DLYON and that seems to work, apparently the DLYON doesn't have a lot of oomph.
TruckPC - gutted, being used for test setup
BoatPC - All in 1 in cuddy, N7 using VNC on dash, RR
    BlazerPC - Nexus 7 with Timur's USBROM

Thanks DaveDog! I do have my p2140 configured for 3 outputs......
    1 MacMini
    2 lilliput screen
    3 HD radio

Are you saying to make a descision to sacrifice, say the radio, and put the AMP on that output? do you think its possible to draw power for both on #3 output for instance? (both the radio and AMP off of 3?)

I obviously need to keep some dedicated outputs #1 and 2 for the MacMini and screen.

Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

also, what do you mean about a small relay off of the DYLON? please explain, I'd love to learn about this method. Thanks!

    UPDATE:
In the interest of helping others who may have this issue in the future, here is what solved my issue. Its basically in my own quote.
I do have my p2140 configured for 3 outputs......
    1 MacMini
    2 lilliput screen
    3 HD radio

I am now powering the HD Radio and the remote on AMP on that output. (my 3rd powered output) its possible to draw power for both on #3 output (both the radio and AMP off of 3)

It also properly kills power thru that #3 output when I turn off my ignition. as it should.
