For navgiation have a look at Sygic (search the forums and you will find) this has an SDK for C/.Net. And as far as I have seen is very open for modifications.
Howdy,
Im looking into building my own front end as a coding project.
I am looking to code in C# 3.0 and use WPF as the GUI, but Im open if those end up not being usefull or something else is significatly better for this (I noticed a lot of people on this forum use VB, I dont want to use VB if at all possible).
The one thing I havent been able to find much info on is some sort of navigation software. I am ok with using something that would be a seperate application, but thats not the point of my project. I am looking for something with an SDK I could use to put into my app, or even an API I could use, which would be less desirable but acceptable.
Google earth was something I was really going to go along with, but it has no offline address saving features. I am able to save cached data for a region with GEcacher, but it doesnt save roads or addresses so locations cant be searched without interent. I COULD use interent from my phone (iPhone wifi tether) but I would really like to avoid this and use something with offline maps.
Another alterative I thought of was finding GPX format maps of the USA and coding against them myself, which would go along with my project, just be more dificult to do. My question for that would be, does any one know a good place to GET GPX maps? My mom and step dad both have magellan GPS units in their cars, I know there is a way to get maps onto them, anyone know of a way to get maps off of them?
Thank you in advance

Failure is not an option...
