Hello all,

I am usin my Dell Axim X51V as carputer.
Taking adavantage of its VGAout I am using an In-dash VGA 7" car TFT.
Because TFT cames with USB touchscreen and X51V does not have USB host I had to add a CF one. Because now I have TC also functional, it allows me to keep PDA always hidden. Once having USB hosting I also added an USB HUB and 200Gb portable USB HD, it stores all my movies and music.

I am using it for GPS nav, music, movies and fast one touch photo dialing.
I also have a car diagnostic VAG interface to RS232 and my PDA is serial ready, but not currently using it.

Because I was missing an app that integrates all of that in a confortable user front end I started this thread at Aximsite:

I am very interested in this project.

Big customizable icons to access user selected apps.
A mean for fast dialing (one tap photo dial?) for those who do not like voice dial.
Multitask: I do not know about other PDAs, by X51V has memory an CPU enouth for several task at a time like MediaPlayer and GPS nav. User interface should allow this.
You say something about "trip computer", what do you mean with that?, where are you planning to take signals from?: GPS, Car diag connector, both ...

If you are planning to take signal from GPS you should think about "serial port splitter", so that GPS can be used by two apps at a time.

I've used to be a Windows Mobile user. Ahh... the days where I got all the information at my fingertips! (that's if it doesn't hang).

Love the mail client. Can read sms and mails with the same program!
