gdisk is your friend. Old versions (before norton snapped it up) can be found by searching google. Its basically fdisk on crack.

As for the laptop issue, take the hd out of the floppy laptop, open one of the cdrom laptops, remove its hd and insert the floppy laptop's hd, insert a bootable cd, boot to dos, format the hd, fdisk /mbr and sys c: it, swap the cd with your win98se disk, copy the setup dir to the c: drive, replace all drives in their laptops, boot the floppy-based laptop, go to the setup dir, and run setup.exe and you're done.

You could also try the bootdisks from www.bootdisk.com If you can find a Win98 OPK disk that makes the installation a lot easier (reads A, formats C, copies system files, reboots, copies all files from CD to HDD, reboots, starts UNATTENDED installation from harddrive.. then your done.. ) Its what OEM PC installers use in order to install all the software on a computer before they ship it out so when you turn it on you get the welcome screen and all that BS.. if you cant find an win98 OPK disk let me know I think I still have one laying around.. (and one for WinME too)

That's the most efficient way todo it. I recently installed a win98se Lite in sleek mode (read IE totaly removed, using good ol' win95 explorer) on a tiny 486-DX2-50, and that was easy.

    HDD connected to my desktop,
FDISK to define 3 partitions C,D,E
    Format of C, D, E,
Copy /WIN98 subdirectory to D from zindoz cdrom,
Copy install CDs for appz to E
    Copy system files to c:
Activate C partition as a primary dos partition.

    Shut down

Replug laptop Hdd into laptop, power it on, enter bios, define C as first boot volume, save, reboot.

when you're ready to install, cd D:/WIn98 then Install.
Now Galileo is real. Muhahahahaha :p
