We could always create 3D buildings and upload them to Google Earth but they had to be done in Google Sketchup. This looks much easier to do, much more user friendly (aka quicker).
Today on Google's blog, Google announced the release of an application called Google Building Maker to crowd source 3d building data. This will pave the way for some really interesting navigation and turn by turn applications. Is this going to be as addictive as Google implies in this video? If I still played video games I would think the real fun would come in if you could upload your own high res imagery and jump in the city with a multi player first person shooter.
