Weston , don't get me wrong, I'm not there to throw a rock at Palmer without having check before, I read in the PPE forum that the dashcommand had problem to "re-connect"

This is what happen when I shut off the car, or put the PC in stand by .

In my case it not only " not re-connect" but crash the PC ( who run on win XP2), I agree with you that if is ONLY my computer, it could be the driver .

Now for the PID, I do not blame the dashcommand, since the data come from the ECU , without PID the dashcommand can not do nothing, GM is the one at fault here,just to trun the knife in the wound , my wife 99 buick century support way more PID, grrrrr.

My main concern is that I'm not able to wake up the pc and have it re-connect itself, I will be more than happy to work these issue with you and I'll take all help you can provide.
I'm little bet away of the tendency by going full LCD , this car is mostly a play car where I can test some other things as well, but i'm confident with your help we can make it.

So what are your suggestion ?

Auto reconnect isn't yet a feature of DashCommand. The post in our forum wasn't a bug report, but a feature request. DashCommand does auto connect, but only once when it is first opened. It doesn't re-connect if the connection is lost yet.

How is your computer crashing? Does it bluescreen, or do nothing at all, or what? I had a driver problem with my Sony Vaio (the FTDI drivers for the ElmScan5 had a conflict with something), but it fixed itself after I reformatted. I haven't seen a computer where it was crashed by DashCommand itself. Do you have any extra hardware plugged into your computer?

Weston if the re-connect is a feature for in my case it's more than a bug since it scrap my plan , this all says, I can only hope for a soon release new feature who will fix this

The screen stays black, I can press any button and nothing happen, nothing is hook up on it and no other program is running.
Not really sure of what you mean by "reformatted"?

We are planning on adding auto re-connect to DashCommand, but we aren't quite sure when it will be done. But, if you shutdown your CarPC when you're not using it, you can have DashCommand auto connect when it starts.

By Reformatting, I was referring to reformatting your hard drive with a new copy of Windows. This erases everything from the whole computer (including drivers). You would need to reinstall some drivers, (i.e. the touchscreen, etc) but it gets rid of any that you don't need.

My Vaio came with a whole bunch of extra drivers for things that I didn't need, so I reinstalled Windows and then went to their site to download things like the touchscreen and WiFi drivers, and other necessary drivers.

Does the screen back light turn on while it's black?

Is there a script that will allow ScanTool to open, Connect to the ELM, then commence Monitoring?
I want to incorporate my etup into Centrafuse, but withe those 3 steps involved, it would not be possible.
What I want to do is click 1 button, which will not only open Scantool, but also connect to the Elm, but also start Monitoring.

No just plain black , just the power LED is on

I did some test yesterday, If I run the PC out of it's batterie, I set up the power management for 2 min screen and hard disc stand by, the machine wake up with the connection on, I did an another test start and run everything than shut down the car and re-start it right away, the link still there.
I plan to try an another PC and see if the wake up problems is the same, the last think I have to try is to do the same thing with the scan tools software, if the PC wake up on scantoll soft , I will know where to start to look for .

ScanXL doesn't have this capability. DashCommand does. You could use a command line flag, or check the Auto Connect box under Settings.

The tablet is the problem, I try the set up on an another machine and it work.
As right know I have no clue where to start ....

I would first try it in Safe Mode (you might need a keyboard if it's a tablet). Safe Mode prevents Windows from loading a bunch of the drivers. If it doesn't have a problem in Safe Mode, then it's most likely a driver problem that a reformat should fix.

So just to make sure I understood stuff right.

If one has a ODBII plugged into a system, they can display speed/rpm/etc (car model permitting) using PPE's DashCommand.

Also, one could have RR installed as their FrontEnd softwhere, and still have access to DashCommand... (correct so far?) So from a touch of a button, one can switch from their music library to speed/rpm/etc gauges. Or can one have both media player and gauges displayed at the same time?

Just wanted to make sure. Fell on this thread by accident when doing research, and although it wasn't in my plans to do so, adding gauges would add to the "wow" factor. ;)
