Knock retard is a mode 11 pid aka manufacturer specific parameter:

Ive worked with troubleshooting/beta testing multiple OBD2 programs that a friend of mine has made. Im currently trying to convince him to build his scanner to support Elmscan (which apparently is easy I just need to let him borrow my hardware). According to him, it literally takes almost no time at all to add manufacturer specific PIDs if you know how to communicate with the PCM/ECU/whatever correctly. His program has a customizable PID database.Quote:

Either he means DTC not PID or he needs to do a little more research. Manufacturer specific parameters are only available by paying a large licensing fee to the manufacturers themselves, hence the high cost of the optional parameters packages sold by OBDII distributors. There are ways of reverse engineering some of them but its a very very difficult task.

Our apologies for posting a screenshot of a dashboard that gave the impression that knock retard was a feature of DashCommand. In fact, the knock retard PID is not supported in DashCommand nor are any of the other manufacturer enhanced PIDs.
ScanXL, from Palmer Performance Engineering, is the software product that supports enhanced PIDs. It also has the capability of loading dashboards (but not full screen like DashCommand) and the dashboard the you've referenced showing KR was made for ScanXL. The screenshot for this dashboard found it's way to the DashCommand page and thus created this confusion.
Again our apologies. The offending screenshot will be replaced shortly.
All this does highlight the need for some enhanced PID support in DashCommand. I can assure you that we talk about it on a weekly basis in an effort to find a technical and a sound business strategy to bring this feature to DashCommand. All I can say is stay tuned.

Ive been emailing back and forth with you guys. Im really not trying to be a dick, I just was really hoping to use this software as a replacement for my Aeroforce Scangauge and as something that adds a lot of value to the carputer for our performance oriented carputer customers.
