Thread: Virtual Earth cache builder? Or even gps simulator to make it cache?

Try precaching something first with SD itself, i.e. go to the map and click the Virtual Earth button, then go back to the digimod and try again...

Or atleast add a trailing "\" It's been a while since I did any VB code so I am not sure if this is off or not, just thought I'd ask...

Awesome job, by the way, my computer is not exactly cooperating but screenshots looks sweet - I will try it out first thing tomorrow!

p.s. you shouldn't need .net for this, afaik.
p.s.s. that digimod screen shot during installation is of the sd dev environment, is that just because you did not have enough time?

I'm also having a problem, i have reg. SteetDeck ver. 1.0.6.3 on windows XP
i'm getting an error mesage saying

"Error in script (main)
VE Cache-main (161, 1)Error
-2146827859: ActiveX component cant
create object:
'ZipCodeDLL.ZipCodeLookup'

I aslo tried registering the dll. but had no success. It says,
LoadLibrary("scriptprojectPath\COM\ZipCodeLookup.d ll") failed - The specified module could not be found.

What am i doing wrong? thanks in advance.

you are absolutly right. the reason punkerguy is getting the error is that he doesnt have the virtualEarth folder within street deck available. My code assumes that this folder structure exist. I'll rewrite the code to make those checks and create the folders if needed.

about the offset, when i first wrote it i used 11 but it was one more so i used 10. but its seems to be working for everyone. so thats good. I am actually getting the trailing "\"

the install screen shot is the hardest for me to capture. the issue is the you need the development env up inorder to choose to package the digimod for distribution. but once the packaging begins, the dev env cannot be minimised so SD takes a screen shot of whatever is on the screen.

I wonder how others are doing it. but this is a onetime thing so it shouldnt be a big deal if people see the dev environment during installation.

scriptprojectPath is suppose to be substituted for the actual path of your streetdeck directory.

for example mine is

C:\Users\BM010352\Documents\StreetDeck\Scripts\{FE 67B8EB-7293-4A66-A85F-E3338090B87C}

so i will replace scriptprojectPath with the above text and run it. but remember it has to be the path in your pc.

just go to
My documents\Streetdeck\Scripts\{FE67B8EB-7293-4A66-A85F-E3338090B87C}

copy that path from your explorer browser and replace "scriptprojectPath" for it.

also its not apparent by looking at the digimod but you can download all the defined zoom levels by moving the zoom slider to the max.

Has anyone tried this yet?
Also has anyone downloaded the entire city with all the zoom level? with the max cell? I would like to know how long it took to do so or if there were any timing out issues.

do you have vista or xp?

open up the folder to my documents\Streetdeck. and go to the script folders and select the {FE67B8EB-7293-4A66-A85F-E3338090B87C} folder. take a look at the picture attached. on your browser copy this path.



if you have xp, do a start->run
or if you have xp type the following command on start search textbox

regsvr32 "C:\Users\BM010352\Documents\StreetDeck\Scripts\{F E67B8EB-7293-4A66-A85F-E3338090B87C}\COM\ZipCodeLookup.dll"


basically all you are trying to do is find the path to where ZipCodeLookup.dll is located and register it. if you want you can move the ZipCodeLookup.dll to c:\ZipCodeLookup.dll

and register it using the following command

regsvr32 "C:\ZipCodeLookup.dll"
