The city option will get the images of all the zipcode within that city.

2)I believe i used wifi after the images were already downloaded. since the number of images in the hybrid folder was way less than the images to download, it took way less time to transfer the images. Another option would be to just use a thumbdrive and just do it by zoom level.

I downloaded all the major city in Missouri. that was about 6 cities. And I believe the file size came about be like 2gb.
With this, I would say, do it city by city. i dont think you will be frequently driving to every city in your state so take your time with the downloading.

where did you download them though. Did you go to a website and say i want the files for this city? or how did you get the files?

Also, that 2GB is that for all images at each zoom?

    Thanks for the info

I downloaded them using the virtual Earth cache builder digimod. this can be found in the wiki under the digimod section.
Dont know if you have read the pages in this thread, but it does provide info on how the digimod works as well as screen prints and links to where you can download it from.

according to GOC, if the navigation is set to auto zoom, then you only need zoom level 15 and 16.
I think I only have zoom level from 9 to 17 for the major cities in kansas and missouri. and i think thats about 2gb. anyways, space is not an issue for me since I've got a big harddrive.

Postal codes and city names will not work if they are not within the United States. I am getting all the information from a website get US cities.

I need to find a website that can provide me with longitude and latitude information for all the postal code within a city in canada. only then will I be able to make this work.

you can run the digimod in development mode in your home pc. the digimod does not require you to have a gps dongle.
In development mode you should be able to install the digimod but you have to press the run button in order to get the digimod to execute. you would have to open a script file to enable the run button. This image should show you where the run button in located.

is it possible to download any other type of map rather than hybrid? I'dd like to download "map" data for much wider area, and this shouldn't even take so much space.

Well, I can give you the lat/long for my city, and other cities in the area...
there's only about 10 major cities... would you be able to make a manual one?

I don't know of any websites that offer a service like that... I'm sure they are out there though!

    Talking Why not CSV?

Could you not separate latitude and longitude input with a comma?

    2.130538,-106.659393

The on screen keyboard does not have a comma (or a hyphen) but most users would be using this on a desktop PC anyway.

This would solve the problem for Canadian and International users.

thats an idea I would try. I would have like to have an Entry point similiar to the address entry in the navigation module. but the development API doesnt allow for that. I will come up with some ideas with entering lats and long as soon as i get some free time.
