I have uploaded my first DigitalMod for Streetdeck, Yahoo! News. You can download the DigitalMod on the Streetdeck DigitalMod Wiki or the following link.
http://www.streetdeck.com/sdzupload/..._News_v0.1.sdz
Features:
-Selectable feeds from Yahoo! News
-Speech for headlines and full article text
-Full scrollable text from article
-Article image display
-Ability to open article in browser **Not working - Works in Dev Mode**
-Tested on Infill G4 with Streedeck version 1.0.9.8.
-Internet connection required.
This is a work in progress, so any feedback, ideas, or help making this mod better is appreciated. I plan to make a simple general RSS reader similar to this idea.
I'd also like to know the proper way to launch an external app and minimize SD so the browser function will work properly.

I'll be trying this in the car as soon as I can get a new battery for it!

hey men,
I just checked out this digitmod. its pretty sweet men. I love the fact that it has the speech option.
Also, is the data stored locally after getting them from the RSS feeds? Or do you need an active internet to use this.
if not it will be good to have the ability to download all the feeds for offline use.
I see myself using this once my carpc is up and running.
i can't instal this digimod in my system. every time i execute it to install it crashes streetdeck
An internet connection is needed to use the digitalmod. I didn't really see the point of having the information cached so you could use it while driving, but I might make that an option considering many ppl would like the news from websites read to them while driving. Even if it was just the headlines. It's not easy to browse the internet and read while driving. I can see this type of thing becoming commonplace in future automotive applications, only with advertisements, I'm sure.
If we had some more natural sounding voices to read to us to make things more understandable without straining to listen, I'm sure many people would choose this type of application over radio.
Does it use the default "Microsoft Anna"? How do we add other voices to choose from?
IandI, this is a great mod. I love this one. The only issue I have found is that if I accidentally run this mod without having an internet connection, I get an ugly crash where the UI goes 'black' and it takes a hard reset to get things back on track. Is this unique to me? Is so, I need to spend some time figuring out the culprit...(which could be a virus scanner working in the background...)
