    updated

I updated the DLL to link to static versions of the all libraries so it should work fine now.
I also moved the DLL to the COM subdirectory so no manual registration is necessary.

Please use the same link as before for download (http://www.vulfson.com/carpc/MovieScout.sdz

I don't have a mobile internet connection, but I'll download this and try it with WiFi just to see if it works across another system.

Marc, any plans for future digital mods? I think you hold unofficial record for least time between announcing and delivering an actual, working mod...so congrats and thanks!

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words and your willingness to beta test.

Actually, I have a few really cool ideas, which I don't want to advertise until I do a little more research, so stay tuned - ETA is next week or two.

Downloaded and installed okay. This is friggin awesome, thanks so much. One question, anyway to get it to recognize zip from Nav instead of inputing it everytime? If I leave the zipcode blank it defaults to 98??? zipcode

It already does that. That's what the checkmark means when the zipcode is empty. You should make sure you have entered the Nav module before this will work though as SD does not init Nav until you explicitly go there

    Hey Mark,
Tried it today and it works great. Got an error when I tried to install while SD was running, then closed SD and executed your file and it worked fine.

It works as advertised for me, and the only suggestion I would make is that on the screen where you have the listing (i.e. I searched for movies, clicked on the movie I'm interested in, now I have the listing of showtimes at the different theaters) you currently require the selection of one of the theaters (it puts the check mark next to it) and then you need to go back to the button on the left labeled 'route' to route you to it. Seems just a little redundant when you can't select more than one theater anyway, so I would say you could get rid of the route button all together and just have the action of selecting the theater actually do the routing.

Not a biggie, just a thought.

Thanks for a great mod! How about a Rhapsody front-end now?

I thought about that (and, actually that's how I had it originally)... my only concern was that I would accidentally bump the screen and route when I did not want to. The solution I have now is a little awkward, I agree, but I chose it as it would make it feel consistent to when you are viewing a list of movies showing in a specific theater. My other idea was to popup a message box, but that seemed clunky too. What do you guys think, if we have a concensus I will change it ?

You are welcome, Per. I don't really use Rhapsody, why does everyone like it so much? Perhaps you guys can convert me and I will try it out - it's hard to make a digimod for something I don't use...

I can see why you made that decision, and that's fine. I'd still prefer the other way, but no biggie, it's a personal preference.

Let me tell you about Rhapsody

$12/month for virtually any song out there (ok, a very, very good number of songs, and not just the mainstream ones). I use it at home for starters via the wireless multi-room audio solution I use: Sonos (can 101% recommend this to everyone out there if they've been considering it. works awesome, super intuitive, not cheap but also a lot cheaper than wiring your entire house).

You can add artists, tracks, etc. to your Rhapsody library, and that library is available to you from whicever device or PC you log onto. Rhapsody also allows you to download content to 3 computers for one account and listen to them in a disconnected state for I believe a month at a time. You can refresh your licenses periodically via its software so if you're not online (those that don't have interent access in the car) you can still listen.

So, one of those computers I download to is my carPC and with this, I have access to just about any song I'd ever want to hear at any time. Hear a good song on the radio and wonder what the album is like? - search for the artist in rhapsody, and play the album. Driving with your buddy and he mentions his latest favorite band that you haven't heard? - - search for it on rhapsody and listen to it. Just heard a great new album while cruising Rhapsody on your home PC? - you have it in your car, too...etc.

But, as is, the rhapsody software is not car friendly and of course outside of the SD shell, so we need an easy, simple front-end for it. I could give you some pretty straightforward requirements if this has your interest at all.

    Tempting...

I checked it out, but I almost cringed when I realized this is from RealNetworks... Anyway, it is definitely tempting. I will try to tackle it after the traffic mod.

Just curious, how does this compare with Zune pass (apart from being a few $ cheaper)?
