I've been a Rhapsody user to several years now and I love it. I use it for streaming 99% of the time, rarely buy anything. But it's like having a digital jukebox of several million tracks for 10 bucks a month. I know there are many others like it now, but I like Rhapsody the best.
Anyway, I'm wondering if any of you could give a shot at coding a digitalmod for streaming rhapsody. I am clueless to this stuff, or else I'd give it a shot myself.
It seems like it would be somewhat easy though (for anyone who knows what they're doing and who has worked with XML). Rhapsody released a web services SDK which is not software, but rather a how-to on the XML language and URL strings needed to get to their library.
It seems all it would take would be a very simple interface within SD: perhaps nothing more than a screen with query boxes for Artist, Album, or Track. You would type "U2" for example, into the Artist, and it brings back all the U2 choices that you would see in Rhapsody (of course you have to be connected to internet for all this) but in Streetdeck's format of big buttons (like the look as seen in the Youtube plugin).
Then you just press a song and it begins streaming. I guess the other thing you would need is a login and password field so you can login to your account.
Anyone who uses Rhapsody want to give it a shot?
I've attached their SDK docs. Change the extension from .txt to .pdf once you've downloaded it.
i'd love to see this as well...and also have no idea how to do it ;-)
Ok, I've never written a line of code in my life, but I'm going to sit down with the tutorial videos, and see if I can take a crack at this. I've GOT to get Rhapsody integrated into SD.
right on nola, let us know how it goes :-)
Not good :( I gave it a shot but I'm clueless to this stuff. I hope there is enough interest in something like this that someone who knows what they're doing will take a crack at it??
