Does the StreetDeck mp3 player support streaming?

I've been reading up on StreetDeck for the past week, and I have to say that I am very impressed by what I see. I hope the software is as good as it seems

I own a commel LV-671 motherboard (also known as a freetech P8F216), and intend to use it's PCMCIA slot for a cellular wireless internet access card (eg, sprint/verizon). I want to stream mp3s (hopefully with icecast metadata), browse the web, and read my e-mail. The web browsing and e-mail I may be able to shoehorn in myself with the SDK.

UMTS is not usually good enough to stream music on the move. the technology is almost there, but not quite.

Ah, well that sucks. I know in the UK cellular standards are a bit better than in the US, and in asia they're miles ahead of everyone else. Still, according to the service coverage maps, I'm 100% covered for the areas I'll be driving every day.

Soon as I can get my hands on one of those cellular internet cards, I'm going to try using my laptop in the car to see how well it streams. I'm going to be putting an external antenna (gps/wifi/cellular) on my car to help with reception too.

I have a freind that has a PCMCIA UMTS card, it's good for streaming, but that was in a fixed location at the office. I have a UMTS phone that I tried to stream music with on the move on the train. it was choppy.

It will be interesting to see how you fare.

I dunno about UK, in US I get upto 2 Mbps on my EVDO phone and PCMCIA card. Ususally its around 700Kbps. Now that enough even to stream video.

Internet radio works pretty good with my EVDO connection. You can expect to see some new features soon to this effect...

I think it would be possible to obtain a licence for streetdeck to use music genome's database and their algorithms.

That would soo F'in rock for us users with dedicated EVDO connections!!!!!!!!

Shoutcast streams would rock also. They also seem to be a bit more stable in bumpy connection areas
