Glad Chevy treated you right on the warranty.
I got the computer back in the car. GPS gave me weather. yay!
I got the HD radio to play once I set the baud to 115200 in the device manager and the skin. I wasn't expecting that, but it works......... except I don't know how to set presets. I used a long push but they don't take. I press the button after the fact and get nothing. Whatever is playing keeps playing.
Also, I can still hear the radio very faintly after I hit the pause/ stop (speaker icon) and it goes gray. I removed my mixer software and am only using Windows to avoid conflicts. I also removed all other skins and FE software. HD is on comm 1, using line in with Mitch's serial cable. I have an older Foxconn PC with serial ports and got the cable a few years ago. I checked that all other radios are disabled on all settings in DriveLine.
Last (for now) lol, I don't get any maps displayed. The screen just comes up empty when I select it, and nothing is working in the following screen that comes up when I click the triangular icon in the lower right. What am I missing? Software?
Thanks guys. This is fun to work with and I'm looking forward to putting it to use.
Yeah, power adders are great. Love my supercharger, even if it drinks premium gas and breaks transmissions.
As for presets, you should be able to tune to a station, long-hold on one of the preset buttons, and then the number on the preset button will change to show the station frequency that it is now set to. I'll check the code to see if anything could be causing a problem, but I'm not aware of any issues.
As for being able to faintly hear the radio, that's an interesting one. The way it works, DriveLine sets the volume of the audio input line to zero when you mute it or change to a different media source. If some volume is somehow 'leaking' in through the audio line, there are changes I can make to the code which should prevent this.
Maps should just work. As long as you're online and your GPS has a signal. When you open the Maps screen, it may take a few seconds to refresh. In order to conserve mobile data/bandwidth, the Maps screen only updates when you're actually on that screen, instead of constantly updating in the background. Is your location displaying correctly on the Weather tile on the Home screen?
I disabled the rightclick on longhold function on the touchscreen, but haven't tried it again to see if I can use pre-sets.
My alternator died. Oh well, it was a JY piece that lasted 4 years.
I'll try some more tonight and get back. The phone is really strange. I had it (it seemed) and now I don't. I was able to dial out once but no-one could hear me, then a call came in and was heard over the speakers even though it wasn't recognized in DL, but they heard my HD radio instead of me. I gotta sort out this audio mess I have going.
I'll see if I can come up with a setup guide with a search.
Thanks for responding!
Oh, the location seems to work, since weather is coming in. My GPS is working fine as an app. (Garmin)
The maps are just blank, they don't want to populate.
Driveline maps icon or garmin is not loading? SNO
Garmin works fine. Works in DL fine. DL maps are blank.
OK thats good garmin is working fine. Maps in driveline need internet connection so depending on type and speed it might take a couple of minutes to fully load the google map, the button on bottom right of maps page is for traffic it also takes a bit of time to first download data. Hope this helps SNO
No, I had them up a good long time and nothing was happening. I was loading Google earth on this rig with Reborn, and while it was slow it did work. I think I may have some other issue. I'll chip away at the things I know have to do with my setup first and come back to this.
I may just wipe this HDD and reload the OS fresh. I could have a lot of junk floating around from the many iterations of hardware and software I've tried over the last few years. Hmm, where did I put that W7 disk?
I just thought of something. I don't have IE set as default browser. I'm a Chrome guy. Would that make a difference to the FE??
The program uses an IE object for webpages (like Traffic). However, the maps are just images being pulled from Google.
In other words, it shouldn't matter for the Traffic screen as long as IE is installed, and it shouldn't matter at all for the Maps.
I wonder if I should take a look at Google Earth some time. Let's get these Maps images working first though.
Setting IE as default browser got me the first map page, still a no-go on the second page. I swapped to mic-in instead of line in and still getting low sound when de-selected in HD radio.
Phone is back. I had mic set up wrong. I'm using a superbeam USB mic. I made my first ever call out, but other end was feeding back they said. They could hear me fine but loud distortion on their end. Taking all volumes down to barely hearable with car not running was better but still not good they said.
I may go back to the motherboard supplied mixer software and play around with it, or try putting HD radio in front port audio jack. Going to bed now, though!
Should I start a thread or stay here and keep plugging away with you guys in this one?
The good news is that my phone is pairing right off with no fiddling on my part when DL starts up and is ready to go. GPS, internet, music library are all good. My issues to solve are with HD radio, traffic view (which I use a lot) and call quality. This is more than I ever expected so soon. Pretty nice!
