If I create a IE app in DL and use it embedded, I can browse to Google traffic and it works fine.

The map icon acts like it just stops loading. Like the connection is lost before it loads. It should stay running as long as the window is open, right?

I uninstalled the Realtek sound, and this time Windows left me with a different driver for the HD sound.

If I take the line in input to 1 on the audio control I get acceptable results in DL when I mute/ stop HD radio. Volume in the skin is good. Minimizing and looking at the audio controls in Windows it looks like DL doesn't fully mute the line in, just reduces it.

In order to get audio from the HD radio, Line In must be set as default recording device. At this point the Andrea is not available to the skin for a recording device for phone even though it is listed as Communications default.

What about if you use the Web Browser screen that's built into DriveLine and navigate to Google Traffic?

DriveLine should reduce the volume to zero. DriveLine doesn't use the actual 'Mute' control because some audio lines don't support muting. However, if we can't get this figured out, I can add code to check for Mute support on the audio line and utilize it. When you mute the HD radio in DriveLine, does the volume in the Windows Mixer go all the way down to zero?

I don't think the 'Default Recording Device' setting matters to DriveLine. I've tested with HD Radio on the Mic line and XM Radio on the Line-In and can switch between the two radios without a problem. I guess the issue could be related to having two audio mixer devices. You said you have a USB audio device as well as the onboard audio, right?

I'll see if I can come up with some way to create a test environment that resembles your setup.

Yes, that works. It loads almost instantly while connected to my home wireless, loads in a second or two when on my 4G Android phone connection.

The traffic screen icon just comes up to a blue background with the zoom bar on the left and the little window in the upper right. Nothing on that screen responds to clicks.

OK, that's the rub. In order to have HD radio at an acceptable level line-in is up pretty high. IIRC when I switched out of HD I was still seeing 1 or 2 on the line-in level in the mixer, which is enough to be audible.

On the mic issue, yes it has (is) it's own usb audio device. I would ideally like to use it for phone and voice commands.

I find I need to set the mic to default recording device for it to become active in DL. If it is just set as default communications device (which it becomes when setting line-in to default device to become usable for HD radio) it is not recognized by DL on my rig.

I uninstalled the Andrea mixer software and have been testing with just Windows drivers. I tried them out initially to see what would happen, and it seemed that the Windows mixer was all that was recognized so I removed them.

I was hoping someone else would have one of these mics working already since they were quite popular a few years ago.

I could incorporate a push-to-talk button if that would help. I just got a Joycon and stalk to install.

    Thanks, Jim

Okay, so the traffic problem is not an IE problem if the webbrowser works within DriveLine, and traffic works in IE outside of DriveLine. I'm not having any problem with it here though. So this might be tough to figure out.

The HD Radio volume should be pretty easy to sort out. There are a lot of ways I can handle this. I can have DriveLine send a Mute/Unmute command to the HD Radio, or have the volume control adjust both the line level and the HD Radio output volume.

One thing I will suggest is to open the Blue Soleil interface, and somewhere in there is the selection for the default audio devices. I'm not in a position to test Bluetooth right now, but it's something to check. Also, DriveLine uses the names of the audio lines to control them. With 2 mixer devices, I wonder if we're running into a conflict with lines having the same name. For example 'Microphone' on the onboard sound and 'Microphone' on the USB audio device. I recommend having your HD Radio on a 'Line-In' instead of a 'Microphone'. Mic's are usually Mono, where Line-In is stereo.

Just out of curiosity, what OS are you running?

I'm sure we can get all of this worked out. It just might take a little work. It will probably take me a day to dig into this and have a test-version up for you.

One more question -- Where are you located? I may have stumbled upon the Traffic problem. If you have a destination set in your 'Directions' screen, DriveLine tries to open a traffic map that displays traffic from your current location to your destination. If it's an unreachable destination (like there's an ocean in the way), google seems to take a crap and just show a blue background.

DriveLine tries to auto-populate your directions/destination based on 'Home' and 'Work' locations when it starts up. Similar to Google Now. This might be the cause.

My OS is W7. I wasn't aware of the Bluetooth options for devices in BS, I'll give that a look. Sounds promising. I tried HD on mic once, but have had it on line-in for most of my testing. It seems to me Windows doesn't 'listen' to the mic unless it is default device, and you can't have two. I may be barking up the wrong tree on that, however.

I am in Ravenna, OH enjoying the nice weather. lol That information is possibly the answer, since I may not have set my HOME and WORK locations yet on the car pc. (More things to note for a startup guide!)

I did on the test mule, but may not have done it here. I will get in and check these things now, ClockWorK. Udaman!

    Cheers, Jim

    Huh.

My machine did a windows update (co-incidence?) while I was playing with things. I looked over the settings in BS, however the only option I had was for SPEAKERS or SPDIF for playback. I went through all the tabs and set things as I thought they should be. I closed out of everything and rebooted the PC.

Then something unusual happened. I used Windows mixer to unselect line-in as default and make Andrea default recording device........ this time I did it WHILE I had the radio playing in DL. To my surprise, the radio continued to play afterwards! Every time prior I tried to do that I lost the radio. Strange, right??

I closed everything and rebooted again to see if the settings would 'stick' and they did! I then made a call out to my wife, who said the quality was, to use her words, tolerable. My voice was good, but she heard a reverb/echo when she was speaking. I understand this is about as good as it gets for BT hands-free right now, so I'd say we have joy in the audio dep't. I wish I knew what was wrong exactly but I'm not arguing with success.

I'm still working on the traffic maps.

    Question.

When I hit the MAPS button I see a Satellite View. Is that what I am supposed to see? It zooms in and out with the controls, so it is working AFAIK. I was curious whether or not I was supposed to see a streets type view or the satellite.

Still having issues on the Traffic tab, but I am still playing with it. I changed Home and Work to my places but afterwards it puts pins on my house, 'A' and somewhere near Warren, MI, 'B'.

I hit refresh and got the blue background.

    Getting there!
    Jim

Okay, progress sounds good so far.

Maps should give you the 'Hybrid' view (satellite + streets). If you zoom in, you'll see streets with labels. You can toggle the map type in the Settings window under Display--MapType.

Warren Michigan sounds like one of my locations. Maybe re-start DriveLine after changing the Home and Work locations. I think the Traffic issues are going to come down to Locations / Directions.

Just for testing, if you're getting the blue background, go into the Directions screen, click the box with the address in it, and then just hit enter on the OSK without entering anything. Then hit the Refresh button on that screen. This will clear the Directions/Destination. My guess is that traffic will work correctly (showing traffic at your current location).

Still not quite right. I can't get traffic to display. Unfortunately I have to stop on it for now, but I'll report back when I can tinker a bit more.

While I have mic and HD radio playing together, I still don't get volume zeroing out on HD radio when I switch. Something is still going on.

Excellent support on your baby, Clock. Thank you very, very much. This is a keeper.
