Thread: Phidgets addon

I need some lights in my car. Footwell lights both front seats, and both rear seats, all controllable individually. I had a box of KFC fly off the front passenger seat after a sudden stop, and had no lights to see if the gravy popped open. Another time I had some books in the back seat slide around and some were under each seat, hence the need for footwell lighting.

So my plan is overkill, LED lights for 4 footwells, rear seat dome lights, bright LED's for under the hood, and maybe some rave party lights that go to the music, so I look cool (fool) when I show my carputer project off at work. Phidgets... What do I need just to drive digital outputs.

So I was looking at the 1012_2 PhidgetInterfaceKit 0/16/16, and seen it can sink 2 amps per digital output channel, which would be perfect for the higher current LED's used to light the engine compartment.

So my question is, Driveline already configured to trigger the 16 digital outputs on the 1012_2 kit? If so, that's the one I'm ordering, because I don't need any relays, it's ready to go.

It should work just fine for you, just be sure you don't want any analog sensor's. but that would not be the end of the world as you can have more than 1 phidget board if you needed to add in later. You will need the phidget library 21 installed then DL will be able to use. SNO

as SNO said, it should work fine. The default skin in DriveLine supports 8 analog inputs, 16 digital inputs, and 16 digital outputs. Support for more could always be added if necessary. The phidgets are all driven through skin commands and skin events, so they allow for a lot of customization.

i would probably have to do some work to support multiple phidget boards.

I don't think I would need any analog sensors, I can't think of what I would use them for? I see they have an 8,8,8 board and a 0,16,16 board, but no 8,16,16 board. I just like the high power digital output functionality of the 0,16,16 board where I don't need relays.

Clockwork is there away to change the font in just say the phidgets or tpms screens? It's not a font I would want to use for everything but for the data from these 2 pages I think it would look great. SNO

Yup. Pretty easy. I will use Times New Roman font as an example.

Open the file:
Skin_Frame_Phidgets.XML

Replace:
<FONTNAME>%skin_FntTxt%</FONTNAME>

With:
<FONTNAME>Times New Roman</FONTNAME>


However, since you will be modifying the default skin, your change will be overwritten the next time I update that XML file.

Thanks Can the title's still use the default font? I only want the readout's to be the different font. SNO

So can we use a different font with each <object> bla bla </object> as long as we have <FONTNAME> bla bl font </FONTNAME> inside the object code?

Yes. In the Phidgets frame, you will just have to go through and change the <FONTNAME> entry for every object with with the word "data" in the name. For example:

That is correct. The font must either be installed in Windows, or copied into the "Fonts" folder under the main DriveLine folder.
