Thread: A little tease about whats coming to Driveline!

Another Item I've noticed which may help you.

No matter what I set the audio input to in the settings, I get sound. I wonder if that's a function of the thin client. Th other curious thing is whatever audio source I have selected, if I go to the mixer and move the volume control, the blue bar in driveline changes. I can only move the blue bar in driveline if I press the speaker and turn it grey, then I can change the height of the bar, but it makes no difference in the sound or in the mixer's volume position. I changed the audio input to CD, and if the bar is blue and I go the the mixer and change the CD volume, the blue bar in Driveline moves. But through all this it's really the Line In that changes the volume that I hear.

Also good info. The fact that moving the volume in the Windows Mixer causes the display in DriveLine to change is a good thing. That means there's no problem finding the audio line and monitoring the volume. But it should only change when you adjust the corresponding line in the mixer. Meaning, if you select Microphone in DriveLine, changing the LineIn in windows mixer should not affect DriveLine. Are the other 2 radios set to "None / Disabled" in DriveLine settings?

It sounds like DriveLine can't control any of the mixer lines on your machine at all.

I looked over your Settings file a little. Go into DriveLine Settings--Radios--DAB--AudioLine, and click on None/Disabled. I see one of my settings in the XML, and though it shouldn't matter, doing this will clear it out.

I see that somehow DAB is set to Line In, let me change that.

Believe it or not, that fixed it!

Now the only thing I notice is that when changing songs in Media Player, say by pushing the green arrow on the right, it goes to the next song, but the album art only redraws the top half of the picture. These are songs with embedded album art. It seems to be OK on playlists that are all one album and there is a folder.jpg to grab.

It's an issue with DriveLine handling ID3v2.3 tags (and ID3v2.4). It's near the top of the list of things to fix. If you want to send me one as an example, that will be helpful. Most of mine display fine, but some newer MP3s do this.

You want the .mp3 file? Is there some sort of timer that runs while updating the picture? My processor seems to peg when changing songs, and songs with simpler album covers seem to load ok. The complicated ones only the top half draws, the bottom is a grey square.

Don't worry about the mp3. I've got a couple to test with.

When the song changes, there are a lot of things that happen. The file is loaded into WMP. DriveLine reads the tags and artwork. If online, it tries find the lyrics for the song. And other things I probably can't think of at the moment. I can try to reduce CPU usage, but loading a new track will always require some CPU time. Is the program lagging or something?

In the settings, make sure logging is disabled. This might help performance.
