found even a better alternative: the MS App Store. I'm running this app Metro Media Payer and it has onscreen volume control
Will be testing more apps soon... Will have to find one with media library management...
Happy new years guys !
Last message and I will stop hijacking the DriveLine thread :-)
There is no sexy media player with volume control free app on the microsoft store right now. I even updated the music and video app on the store hoping for volume control but nada. What I found is a file explorer app with an integrated media player which has volume control. the app is called FileBrick. The second one is called Metro media player but you have to load files individually. the filebrick app has a playlist option. And the best thing is I found a way of installing these app to a my offline carpc
The sMediaPlayer is a good paid option as it has a nice interface and does have volume control
Cheers and enough talk about Metro frontend :-)

It's interesting to see the different uses for Metro. Heck, some of the UI for DriveLine was modeled after Metro. But, even though Metro is meant to be touch-friendly, I'm still not convinced that it can take the place of a real front-end that is designed for use in a car. Even with support for GPS, multi-touch, and media playback, I don't think it's really car-friendly.
