    Fuel Prices and Traffic cams

This is really a call for Enforcer to hopefully do some adjustments to make this fit in the app window in DL. Traffic cams works fine and updates just won't resize nicely. I have tried a few adjustments but I am no programmer.(help) Also gas seem's to be stuck in 2009, i hit refresh and it shows connecting ...ect but same old prices and won't lookup a different zipcode. As I said on my site the standalone programs are a bit out of date.

The site that the gas program got it's prices from has changed and I have not updated it as I have mainly been working on the plugins for frontends.

Trafficcams should resize if you have got it embedded correctly, the main reason for nor embedding correctly is the window name.

The full window name of trafficams is (Trafficams - msatuev) without the brackets

I highly doubt the standalone version has the newer code for some of the camera sites so can't gurantee what cameras will and won't work.

As I said on my site, it would probably be best for clockwork to speak to me to see if we can get driveline to interface to my plugin DLL's.

Well in theory he shouldn't have much to do.

I'm in the process of looking at his code to see what needs to be done to get the right code in there.

It would just need us to agree of a way to do it, so his coding should be minimal.

Only issue I can see is whether he will be happy to accept the user registration process that comes with my plugins.

Also of course the plugin DLL's will not be open source.

    Enforcer,

I am totally open to adding support for your plugins. I'm just trying to create a free front-end with all of the features that users want.

It is fine that the plugin DLLs won't be open source. I don't mind the registration requirement. As long as a user can simply choose to not use the plugin if they don't feel like registering.

I've been pretty busy with work for the last couple of weeks. Hopefully things will calm down soon and I can devote more of my time to DriveLine.

I appreciate you taking a look at my code. Your plugins seem to be the standard for many front-ends, so having some of your plugins supported in DriveLine can only be a good thing.

    Wow!

Each new frontend, yet another way to do the skinning and coding.

Starting to get some idea of what is going on.

What I think might help is if we can some skin files done for how you think they would look in Driveline.

If we start with fuelprices I need an idea of whether you want to go with the display formats I have done in the other FE's and the standalone exe or split it up with one stations display per page.

I prefer the 5 stations per screen horizontally that is in the Carwings version of RideRunner as opposed to two rows of three that is in CF and the standalone version.

However not sure how that will fit with the Driveline FE as you seem to have large fonts and to get that you would really only have one station per page.

    Thoughts?

it would be nice to have it's own page and not added to obd2 or other as a tab. and would really be nice to have its own button to be able to place on main page if needed. Just my thoughts SNO

    Enforcer,
I think the layout of the RR FuelPrices (horizontal strips) will work better in DriveLine than the CF layout (square tiles). Even if only 3 or 4 rows fit on a page, I can do multiple tabs.

I don't think the settings will need to be on the same screen. I would just add a "Fuel Prices Plugin" item in the Settings screen of DriveLine. The user could specify FuelType, Range, and Language. As long as the CarPC has an internet connection and GPS, DriveLine knows the current ZIPcode and Country. Also, I could very easily add a "Default Location" setting to DriveLine for users without GPS, which would be used for FuelPrices as well as other functions within the front-end. I envision the user clicking on one of the listed gas stations and DriveLine would pull up a map/directions to that location. I can handle that as long as the gas station address is exposed.

In a perfect world, DriveLine would pass to the plugin a location and account info, and would receive back an array of GasStation structures. If that can be done, I will expose skin variables that can be used to lay out the gas station info however the skin designer wants to.

    SNO,
It would be it's own screen, with a tile that can be positioned through the Skin Config settings.

    Would something like this work?

Don't get too excited this is just a concept mockup. No coding has been done yet.
