We'll go through version after version, each one costing money, and none of them working 100%. Basically, F#@K everyone."
HAHAHA...welcome to my world. This is what I've been trying to explain on the Centrafuse forums for, I don't know, at least 3years. So let me just double down on your thread: With the understanding that what ClockWork said about the "stack" is true, there is no Bluetooth solution in any vehicle, provided by any manufacturer, that is 100% compatible with all phones. It does not exist. Given that basic, immutable truth, you can easily surmise that there will NEVER, EVER be a Bluetooth solution for carPCs that is even remotely close to being 100% compatible with all phones or devices. It. Cannot. Be. Done.

If the big three can't do it with all their money, and Toyota, Honda, BMW or Audi can't do it with all the technological muscle they possess, then nobody that ever visited or will visit this forum is likely to do it.

But...I suspect Clockwork will agree that we won't stop trying. It is a noble, if ultimately lost, cause.

Futility has never stopped us before.

It truly is a shame that we don't collaborate on anything.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Speaking for myself, I'm not at all opposed to that idea. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the legal constraints under which I operate Centrafuse would preclude any direct collaboration with what might be described as a "competitor". I don't really look at it quite that way, but the money guys do, and that's who I have to answer to.

    Maybe some day......

I understand completely. When the time is right, we'll see if there is something we could team up on.

Also, since I don't really have any money guys to answer to, I can do whatever I want. :-D

Not sure I agree here :-) We can do something if big money guys don't want to lose their time on us :-) I have almost made something working but the bluesoleil kit let me down. so I'm getting a new dev board to test. Will update you on this one when I get the board. I'm talking about a hardware solution, computer independent so all processing is done on the device ...

Same difference. Ultimately, you'll have to have some kind of software stack on that piece of hardware. Broadcom, Toshiba, CSR...whatever. I'm sure it will work better than Bluesoleil on a PC with a $10 generic BT dongle, but it won't be 100%. No system is. And of course, that's only half the problem. Audio is the other. Does your device process it's own audio, providing hardware echo cancellation and a high-quality, noise cancelling microphone? If not, we're right back at the original reason I use my headunit BT. I never really had too much trouble pairing the phone, but the audio quality was terrible. And I really couldn't justify spending 100s of dollars on a microphone solution when almost ANY BT headset or standalone device could do it for far less.

I hope you're successful from a technical perspective, and I hope the economics make sense as well. Good luck!

I have work with the BlueSoleil SDK this month , and in the actual version a message API (MAP) and phonebook API (PBAP) exist .
So, it's possible to have an event for each sms or email ... received and it's possible to read the phonebook or add a new contact !

That would be some cool features no ?

I need to upgrade my BlueSoleil license to the latest version and start doing some work with the new APIs. I've been busy with a project at work for the last month, so I haven't had much time for DriveLine. But I should be getting back into it soon. I can't wait to check out the new APIs and add some new BlueTooth features.

Bought a cheap mic... needless to say it echo's awful. The person on the other end hears themselves and it makes it hard to use.

I am using a trial version of Blue Soleil as I don't want to spend $$ on the software if the functionality isn't better than what I have now. Will upgrading the mic to the DA-350 solve this problem? Anything else I should try?

If you can keep the volume levels down any old mic will work...but in the car it never works..volume need to be up a fair bit while moving...for perfect echo cancellation you need a phoenix MT107a
Total echo free phone calls and some noise reduction.
There not cheap but they work..im sure i saw one here for sale.
