    Car battery monitor plugin

What about a plugin to monitor and report battery usage? It will probably need a hardware interface... Any ideas?

This is what I use to see my draw of my carputer http://www.phidgets.com/products.php...duct_id=1122_0 and this to monitor voltage http://www.phidgets.com/products.php...duct_id=1135_0 you will need to make some software to use these if you don't have the phidgets 1018 1019 or 1010 controller. If you have the controller and you use Driveline you are all set. Good luck SNO

ok I see. I did think about the phidget boards. what is the best board out there? I guess it always depends on what you want to do with it but it's time I got me one of those to play with :-)

I find the best one is the 1018 or 1010 based unit the 1019 has 6 usb ports but they are limited and not worth the extra money, better to use that extra money and save for a ram mount hub. The beauty about the phidget line is that it's very polished already with source code and examples for pretty much anything. A complete list of attachments that are pretty well plug and play. Support in the big 3 front-ends although CF is a paid for plugin. Hope this helps SNO

Just to confirm, we're talking about the car battery and not a laptop battery, right?

And I guess I can use it to mute music when I put the gear in reverse mode. I have already asked and got an answer mentioning the phidget board :-)

DriveLine pretty much just displays the values coming in from the phidgets. There's nothing in DriveLine for reporting or reacting to these values though. It can be done through the skin XML files, but I might have to contemplate a good generic way to implement it. But it's possible.
