Win10 may not come with Media Player, but it will probably be a download in the Windows Store.
DriveLine relies on Windows Media Player to play the music and visualization (including video playback), but not for the album art. My own code extracts the album art from the media files.
And if I ever had to, I've got some ideas for doing basic music visualizations natively in DriveLine instead of relying on WMP.
Win10 is not far from Win8, so I'm not expecting anything to break. Of course, I may be wrong. If I get some time, I will do the Win10 thing ahead of time.
Let us know how your Win10 upgrade goes.
As for my car, I ordered a couple of mounting brackets. This is gonna be one of the easier CarPC installs I've done.
No need to remove the whole damn dash (which, on my Impala, was a single piece spanning the entire width of the car from door to door.
Two bolts already well-positioned (mounting the front-center speaker) that the mounting brackets connect to.
I realized I would lose my back-up camera (probably not for long though) if I went with a different dash/radio setup, so I'm just gonna get to work on getting a tablet mounted so I can start road-testing DriveLine again.
I bought some Plasti-Dip. Time to kill some chrome. Anyone ever played with this stuff? I've never spray-painted anything.
And to answer your question, no, I don't think WMP Classic will work. Prolly be better off copying the EXE's and DLL's and registry entries from Win8. But, like I said, I don't think it will come to this.
If you have WMP working now, "upgrading" shouldn't remove WMP. So, I'm fairly confident.
