I must be doing something way noob

Is DL supposed to save changes to the XML file after modifying those setting e.g. GPS port using the settings button in DL?

Yes it should, I find if I do all my settings changes and then exit out of Driveline and then restart all is good. Just a thought SNO

Shouldn't require run-as-admin unless you manually placed it in a "Program Files" folder..

(example: if you made a folder called "C:\Program Files\DriveLine" and placed the files in there, then it may need to be run as Admin)

Yes that's exactly what we did. All ok now. Feeling our way around DL options now. Is there an easy way to place MS Streets and Trips on the first page, say in place of My Shortcuts?
We like DL because it is lean and mean up front but appears quite complete inside. Thanx

Not any easy way at the moment. It's possible with some skin modifications. But not something straight-forward for the first-time DriveLiner.

I think they just want to put the shortcut on the main page. is that not something like long hold on the tile and waiting for the popup to change tile or is that something different? SNO

The tiles for the embedded apps / shortcuts are handled differently. They're always placed on the "My Shortcuts" screen instead of the Main/Home screen.

Ok. How about removing some extraneous (for us) from the task(?) bar. Like getting rid of the OBD and IE icons?

The icons on the NavBar at the bottom are just status indicators. They can be removed by editing the skin files, or by replacing their images with a fully transparent PNG. However, deleting the OBD and Internet icons wouldn't really free up space for anything else.
