quick google search: under passenger seat.

I just got a used LR Discovery, 1996 vintage, and it is supposed to have an OBDII plug on it somewhere but I cannot find it. The owner's manual doesn't mention it anyplace that I can find and I've torn out a good portion of the dash looking for it thus far. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Many thanks for any help you can offer!

I will take a look in the morning when my next opportunity to wrangle with that thing comes along. Thank you so much for your efforts.
I looked under that passenger seat earlier today and all I found was a CD player with 6 CD slots in it. That took up the whole front of the seat frame area and no plug for a data link of any sort was seen. Do you think I need to take that seat out entirely to find the port for the data scanner?
do you think the dealer will rip it apart just to run a machine check diagnostic? obviously, no, so look harder...

try asking or poking around www.discoweb.org. apparently it's a forum for your car.
I think your Disco model is one without error code display unit under seat...hence why you cannot find it. Your diagnostic plug should be behind passenger (US) side footwell cover where fuel(petrol) ECU is located for Lucas Hotwire fuel injection system in vehicles of this vintage.
It may not look like a OBDII plug as your diagnostic plug is probably a 5 pin (3/2 side by side) plug white or black colour (with a male piggyback cover plug) with 3 wires running back to ECU. None of these are powered pins and I think is 1994 -96 Landrover uquivalant to OBDI. If I am right your model car may have just predated the US OBDII standard set in 1996.
I have Australian Disco model equivilant to yours and I am trying to track down a OBD interface manufacturer who has a interface unit that can decode my data via appropriate serial connector (then upload into Centrafuse). No luck so far...anyone out there who can point mr Fabfix and I in right direction .![]()
