    Direction needed

    Hi, I am a newb here and need some help. I would like to install a engine monitoring system and not sure what I should be looking for. I have a Fujitsu Tablet that I will be using for GPS, that has W2K, 80 GB HD and 192 of RAM. I have a non OBll car, 8 cylinder, fuel injected with a Motronic DME. It seems to me that I need something to collect the data and convert it into a form that a software program would understand and display. I would also like to get the fault codes from the DME. I should also metion that in addition to the DME, the car has a additional brain that manages the engine.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Start by looking at the protocol required to access the diagnostics from your DME / car "brain", then the hardware required to interface to that. It may already be available "off the shelf".
