Thread: ODBII or not OBDII?

hi, a while ago i bought an elmscan 327, and recently i connected it, to test it, but i get no readouts...
first i thought it had something to do with the front end i use (centrafuse), but when i tried it with scantool and had the same problem, i was pretty sure the problem was something else...
i mailed the store where i bought the elmscan from, and he let me do some things to find the problem:
in hyperterminal connect to the elmscan then
type ATZ -> result: ELM 327 v1.1
type ATSP 2 -> result: Ok
type ATSP 0 -> result: Ok
type 0100 -> result: unable to connect

so, the store says my car is not obdII compatible. i called my garage and they say my car is obdII compatible, because they use a tech2 which reads everything through obdII...

so, my question now is: is my car obdII compatible or not?

it's an Opel (vauxhall) astra g from 2001 (built december 2000) with a 1700 dti engine (engine code Y17DT or Y17DIT, not sure)

ps: for as far i can find on google, my car has to be compatible, but if it is, there should be some kind of label under my hood that says OBDII compatible...
