Bought a ELM 327 and it doesnt work!!!

Not yet, right now my car PC is in pieces (upgrading the power supply) and since the OPUS 320 is so large, I have to customize the case to install it. Tomorrow I will be putting it back together and the first thing Im doing is trying the scanner again.

I bought ELM 327 unit . I received the cd damaged. I can not install it without the driver. can any one tell me how to solve this issue. Please if any one has the driver cd to e mail me the drivers at b_al_dhany@hotmail.com.

which unit did you buy though? the same as mine? did it come from hong kong? if yes I can let you down load it from my FTP site.

I got the driver, installed it, now my computer says "your hardware installed and ready to use". When I hook the unit to the car and start the scan software the software does not see the interface. It says , interface is not responding. I set the com port properly. any Idea?

Have you turned the ignition on or you can just start the engine.
I had the same problem initially.

After that Im am not sure..... I have removed my CarPC for a major redo (the first install was unorganized and flawed)..... I got to the same point you did, it installed but had issues connecting.... Some1 mentioned it may be com port and or the baud rate. I notice with the software, it only goes up to com port 5 so I would set the ELM to one of those..... I think the baud rate should 38400 or something.....
