Hello, i bought my ELM327 from the same seller as you on Ebay.
I cant get it to work at all.
    I installed the drivers.
A software demo came with it as well, when i try to connect the device it says:

    Firstly-
    1.COM1-Connected
    2.swiches baudrate 9600/38400
    3. ELM interface not found

    and secondly-
    1.COM3-Connected
    2.swiches baudrate 9600/38400
    3. ELM interface not found

the interface is connected via com3 because when it tries to connect via com3 the interface yellow led flashes for a moment.

Maybe I have done something wrong.
It would be good, if someone who has got it working, gave a step-by-step instruction how he got it to work.
    Thanks!

Can you open up hyperterminal or some other serial prgoram and connect? If you press the enter key, it should display either "Elm v1.2 compatable" or something similar then a >. If not, you could be on the wrong COM port.

Is your interface Serial or USB (Virtual serial port)?

Something in my mind is telling me that the OBD2 scanner that is being sold on Ebay, is not the real thing. Its just weird that so many people are having issues with it. Mine eventually after 7 times of trying died. It would power up, but Windows would say that the device is malfunctioning and can not be used. After that I decided to shell out 100.oo dollars on a serial port version from here. http://www.obdpros.com/. All I did was plug it in, then went into CF and it worked with no adjustments. I decided to go serial since I have 4 serial ports, and didnt want to take any chances of exceeding my USB bandwidth.

I can vouch for the quality of the obdpros version, that's what I have. Works like a charm, first time and every time.

Edit because I saw your responce:
Virtual Serial Port is what most of these tools use when they are USB. It makes your computer "think" it is a serial port even though it is USB.
    Hyperterminal comes with windows.
    http://www.spectracomcorp.com/portal...erterminal.pdf
That is a quick tutorial on how to use hyperterminal. You need to find out from the documentation what baud rate your hardware uses. If COM1 dosent work, try COM2 through COM10 see if they work.

Cheap ebay one here, no issues, works fine.

It's usb, just download the serial to usb chip drivers.

I use PCMscan, dashcommand and SCanpro 5.1, no other drivers required...........

putty or hyperterm I get the yellow (TX) flashing but no response from the ELM
    on "atz" command.
    Thanx for help

Just the ftdi driver from the web site........http://www.ftdichip.com/

    That's all.

Sounds like your program isn't talking to the elm327 chip.

try a few different ones available on the 'net.

    Good luck.
