Bluetooth OBDII adapter - anyone tried it?

Has anyone used the following adapter?

I'm thinking about getting it but would be afraid I would hit the device with my leg since my car is a standard. Other than that it looks pretty cool.

Hey Deric, good to see you here.

The OBD-ii port actually slides right out (just push it away from you, towards the engine) - and then you can point it in any direction. I had to slide mine out because the thick cable of the SCT Xcal2 was always dangling into my knee.

You could probably slide yours out, attach the device, and then velcro or cable tie it to something under the dash.

Let me know what you find out about this device because I put the same post up a few days ago asking if anyone had used it yet.

Instead of moving the connector, try the following: http://www.obd2cables.com/products/ for a right angle extension. I thought about moving mine, but didn't want to risk pulling out one of the pins.

Regarding the cables being in the way, what I did was get one of these:

and I hard wired it into the wires coming up to my factory OBD2 plug. now I have 2 plugs, one for the dealer to use and one hidden behind the dash that my elmscan is hooked to.

or if you arent good at soldering you could get a splitter like this:

I have the exact same one from a supplier here in UK (cost me £65). The bluetooth signal only seems to be able to be picked up for a distance of about ten feet-ish unless I got a low powered one but picks up fine in the car and on my pc if I have the bluetooth dongle I bought for my pc by the window it picks up fine in the house (mind you I have thick stone walls and its been raining all day, only got it this morning so maybe that affects the indoors reception).

It comes with Vital Engineerings software which is pretty good and once connected polls quickly.

I bought it for my in car pc I am building as I didn`t fancy lots of wires and I think one of the discs it came with even has software on it for mobile phones to access it as well (when I find my memory card adapter and can copy files to my phone again I will check it as that would be neat!).

The OBD Diag software linked to somewhere else on this forum didn`t work with it for some reason, which annoyed me as those dials and things look nice but the included software works great.

I don`t regret buying it, put it that way, and it`s a neat gadget - no wires and I can use it with my home pc, carputer (which is sitting upstairs in testing mode for a while) or mobile phone.
