    Remap Ford OBDII

I need some help in finding software that will let me change the programming in the PCM in my 98 Ford Contour.... or at least let me view everything until I figure out what is what & what I want to change. I'm a mechanic at a Ford dealership so I think I have all the hardware I need... but I am guessing that I am going to need software of some kind for extracting, or at least reprogramming with custom maps. Any help or pointing in a general direction would be greatly appreciated.

The IDS doesn't allow for custom mapping ... at least I don't think it does ...

You'll need to buy dedicated HW and SW ... like Hypertech's Power Programmer or something from Diablosport that will let you tweak your fuel mapping strategy

Thanks for the input. I figured there might be a back way in being that you can program and/or reprogram with it. It's not a surprise that it's been impossible to find anyone with any good information about doing so, but I still can't help but think there has to at least be a way in to view. Then again, I have been wrong many times before.

I can go with an Xcal but I'm looking for fewer limitations and programmability that I can do myself. The thought of having to pay someone X-hundred dollars everytime I want to make the slightest change to a tune doesn't sit well with me. Mail-order tunes scare me to death, and after being in this business for a few years, I have serious trust issues with anyone doing anything to my car. Consequently, I like to do everything possible myself... and I'm really hoping to make this the next possiblity.
