i have just bought one and at the minute i cant get it to work, get an error code basicly telling me its not connected
I have tried several ELM knockoffs and none have worked as well as the ELMScan. I have had numerous issues with CAN multiframe responses and connectivity issues via bluetooth.

I agree - OBDPro is a quality product, never had a problem using it with any car that had OBDII capability. Plenty of software out there, you are certain to find a package that suits your needs.
got any links to a obdpro?

Elm327 USB CAN OBD-2 Elm 327 OBD2 Diagnostic Scan tool
Seller: szhid
Total: AU $29.98 ($25 usd to door step total)
I am a Electronics tech, 41 years on the job. ISCET cert ,and A+
i can tell you the chip works perfect, it is a real ELM327
the only weakness are if the power supply in the module can hold up to
gross vehicle power buss noise, {an issue with all car plug ins)
so just dont use it,if you are jump starting the car or or doing radical electrical mod's to the car. (like shorting out power buses or the like)
(one can buy a Cig lighter plug filter, Highly recommended !)
2nd issue is that 1 company , out of ALL ,blocks this usage of the HK version. scantool.net......yadayada... cuz the want $ for the hardware.
but PALMER software works 100% and below is the proof.
I am a happy customer (only).
i have 3 diff scan tools. (including Harrison R&D ,on Laptop and PALM)
if you need help debugging your Laptop let me know. I can help.
USB or Rs232. ?

load% above, was deactivated by me.
have 80 mile logs. weeks worth.
this is pcmscan by Ppalmer , the best IMHO. (have lic)
my links above ,are all Non Profit, non commercial.
mp3car has discount code for Palmer solftware. real nice.....
soon switching to my own software for PDA.
The ELM is easy to code for. I use Delphi 2006 C++
cheers.
I've just recieved mine. I not been able to get it to work however. I am using win98 and drivers from FTDI site for win98. I have tried many software solutions including pcmscan with no luck.
Any suggestions? Baud rate? Drivers? OS?
Thanks
there are lots of trip up points.
mine runs at 38k baud. using the comes with cd software.
the default rate is not correct 15k
first get that working, as it does work just fine. (albeit simplistic)
this version of software comes with an old version scantool.net v1.2 or 1.3?
1.4v downloaded looks for their Signature on the ELM327 , then errors on purpose.
first off ,windows 98 is a dodgy OS for USB. ( only the last version with the newest services packs and updates may work)
It was called 98SE . and there are huge USB problems (7million Google hits)
best is barrow a friends lap top with XP on it.
install the palmer software (not from scantool) scantool specifically block s clones. (so called)
I haven't tried windows 2000 with palmer and 327, but it might work.
the palmer software has special code in it to find the port.
and load a working driver.
it is very good, in fact I never see better. It works hard to make it function.
I've plugged mine in a number of times and it never errors.
the palmer software installs and loads the correct drivers. so
installing yours might mess that process up.
My best advice is first try it out on a quality laptop or pc.
with XP.
once working , going down hill to 98 might happen, knowing that it does work.
Windows ME corrected most of the major USB issues but ME is a turkey for lots of other reasons.
let me know how you do.
I just bought a ELM 327 that suppose to support all OBD II protocols but it doesn't work for my 2000 Honda Passport. It from honeylead08 from CA. They must drop ship from Hong Kong. I have read that these devices are clones from the Canadian original. Anyway.. spend 30 bucks more from a place that can support your issues. And Ebay sellers drop shipping from Hong Kong will not.
