ive actually never once had a problem out of my cheap ebay one.

Just bought an ELM327 from saygo5

Hope to get it within the next couple of days to see how it works. Will post back once I get to play with it. It's a pity most motorcycles don't have OBD or I'd be jacking the crap out of my bikes.

I know the Harley's use J1850 VPW and one of our customers has created a neat app that works great with the harley including an app that melds the OBD II data with GPS feeds to create a pretty slick flythrough using google maps...

But you are right I do not believe any other bikes use an OBD II style protocol...

One of the drawbacks of the ELM327 style interfaces is that it does not have a software upgrade capability so everytime you want to get the latest features you need to shell out more money

what is the avg cost of one piece ELM327 USB?

For an ELM device? Expect to pay upwards of $60 for a multipule protocol device. For an imitation cheap chinese knockoff? You can get one for around $20.

what is ur openion abt the chinise imitations ?
AND that is this ELM327? wht is that ? is it some find of protocal of some industry standerd or just some thing out of the sky ?
