About ebay's ELM327 (szhid seller & others)

Basically what he's saying is RFM.
In case you don't know this acronym it means "Read the F(censored) Manual".

Anybody tried ELM327 from szhid with AutoEnginuity ScanTool? I could not make it work.

So far it works perfectly with software in the driver CD.
I am running Windows XP on a Dell Mini 9 laptop. Installed the driver on the CD when promted for new hardware.
Then I went to Device Manager and changed the new COM port to COM2, baud rate to 38400. Everything works great.

it doesnt work with most elm software. and the software it does work with is limited. it cant be a real elm327 module... theres no way.

I bought mine from him too and have good success with it. I've used the free software that's on their site.

The newer Scantool.net doesn't work with it since it looks for a signature on their own cable. I assume if their cable worked with their older software it could be just speculating.

I didn't get it to work with Autoenginuity but I didn't mess with the settings for the USB and will see if it works. It's on COM6 but I think I left it at 9600 on it but I will try it again. I know the cable works since it's able to connect with another software.

thats not the point. its not all or nothing. its an emulated elm chip so only certain things are going to work, and a lot of it wont work properly.

I got one off of eBay from gameadvance supposed to be ELM327 and when I tried it it would not connect. It's a USB version, came with software and 1/2 the software that came with works. Funny thing is that after a few days I got it, the listing was removed by eBay!!!
