Ok, listing now specifies its "compatible" haha.
Fix from seller: set baud rate to 38400. That fixed problem on programs that let you change baud rate but ones that dont I guess you can change baud with prog that does then launch the one that dont...I hope!

Heh yeah, because everyone complaining is making a killing selling real ELM327 devices on ebay
The ELM327 chip costs $25-$30. Buying in bulk the company gives you a discount making them at the cheapest $20 The OBD connector itself isnt cheap either, so how do they make money? AFAIK They don't use the real ELM327, they use a cheap knockoff with an ELM327 label. That is why it's a crapshoot. For some people it works great, for some it does not. If you can show me where you can buy an real ELM327 chip for less than that, I'm listening.
I guess it all depends. I bought a ebay odb scanner and it literally only worked one time. After that it was constant device malfunction, device not recognized. Once I switched to ODB Pro version, the issues went away.

Starting Raspberry Pi multizone project.
That's how much it costs to buy an ELM327 Chip IN THE U.S. Bought individually. The ELM Chips are made in China in the first place, and they buy them by the thousands... OF COURSE they're going to be able to get the chips for cheaper than you can buy one from Fry's for.
This board has some real geniuses sometimes...

The ELM327 ICs are made in Toronto, Canada. To be specific, they buy the chips from Microchip in the US, and program them with custom firmware in Canada:

Our company buys the ICs from Elm Electronics (we're their largest customer). What malcom2073 said about the cost, is true.
